Its extensive sandy beaches and coastal landscapes have also made it a popular destination for visitors.

The historical and tourist significance of the town

Lossiemouth's beaches are its principal natural attraction, with long stretches of sand and dunes extending along the Moray Firth. The harbour reflects the town's fishing heritage, while the nearby River Lossie and coastal paths provide opportunities for walking and wildlife watching. The town is also close to Elgin, Findhorn and the wider Moray Speyside whisky region.

Food and local life

Lossiemouth has cafés, restaurants, traditional pubs, fish and chip shops and independent businesses serving residents and visitors. Fresh seafood and smoked fish are important regional products, alongside Moray meats, cheeses and whisky.
