Shirebrook is a town in Derbyshire, situated close to the Nottinghamshire border between Mansfield and Bolsover. The settlement grew substantially during the Industrial Revolution and became closely associated with coal mining, particularly through Shirebrook Colliery. Mining shaped the town's population, landscape and economy for much of the twentieth century. Following the decline of the coal industry, Shirebrook has developed into a residential and employment centre with strong connections to the surrounding towns.
