Wembley is a major district in the London Borough of Brent, northwest London. The area developed substantially during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, particularly after railway connections improved. Wembley became internationally famous following the construction of the original Wembley Stadium for the 1923 British Empire Exhibition, and the area has continued to develop as one of London's principal sporting and entertainment destinations.
